The King of Backgammon ...

... IS STILL THE KING OF BACKGAMMON!!!

Bas left from Manchester in the end of January 2001. He went to London for a couple of days to meet a friend of his who was studying at LSE. After that, he returned to Amsterdam and continued his studies at the University, and in the next few months he traveled to many places, including Reykjavík in Iceland and New York (this now explains why some people did dare to attack the city - remember the other Andreas' page?).

In the years that followed, Bas did some more traveling, including Berlin and Egypt, and he completed his degree in Politics and Ethics at the University of Amsterdam.

Ok, but what is Bas doing now?

Bas is in Oxford!!

The King of Backgammon got accepted at Oxford University as a Probationer Research Student (something that will ultimately lead our King of Backgammon to a Phd degree) in the department of Politics in September 2004. Bas is studying in Oxford since then.

We're sure that this may have come as a surprise to most of you, but we are also sure you're all thrilled by these news. However, doing graduate studies in Oxford has also had several consequences to our King: Gone are the spiky hair and hair wax, not to mention those long, spectacular backgammon sessions. All of these is now history!!

Those wanting to email Bas and have a word with the King, be warned!! You really now need to be of a higher educational and spiritual level to get a reply from him. Which means that if you aren't a Cambridge or Oxford graduate, a rocket scientist, a NASA astronaut, or Albert Einstein himself, you don't stand a chance of getting a reply from our hero. However!!! If you are a Cambridge/Oxford graduate (or a rocket scientist, a NASA astronaut, etc), then we have great news for you: you do have quite a high chance of getting a reply to your email - it will probably be a very, very brief reply, but it will be a reply!!!

As you can probably guess, we weren't able to get permission to include Bas' new email address here (he doesn't reply to our emails either ). However, we managed to find several recent pictures of him (how we got them is another story), since there couldn't be a magicbas.com update without pictures of the King of Backgammon himself.

So, despite the vast difference in educational, spiritual and intellectual status we have with our King, we still managed to find what you were all looking for!!
